What to Expect

We’d love to have you as a member! You can apply online or in person—either way, it’s pretty easy. Here’s what to expect when you apply.

Step 1 Complete the application form.

Our online application takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. During this process we will need a few things from you:

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)—We are required by Canada Revenue Agency to collect your SIN for identification and tax reporting purposes.

  • Credit Check—We need to check your credit report to ensure that you meet our minimum requirements.

Step 2 Expect a call.

Once the membership application is completed you can expect to be contacted by one of our Member Service Centre agents who will determine if you need to book an in-person appointment or if your application can be processed without visiting a branch.

Note: You can also visit a branch to finalize your membership application.

Step 1 Book an appointment.

Call us to book an in-person appointment at your local branch. This appointment typically takes one hour and you will need to bring the following pieces of information:

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN).

  • One piece of valid and current picture ID—For example, a Driver's License or Passport.
  • A second piece of ID—For example, a Birth Certificate, Credit card, or BC CareCard.

  • Contact information—Your permanent address with postal code, home and/or mobile phone numbers, and email address.

  • Financial statements—You may have statements from other accounts, investments, or loans.
