What is a RRIF?
A RRIF is a fund that you draw money from during your retirement. You also earn tax sheltered money on the investments inside it and can even transfer your RRIF to your spouse without anyone paying tax.
How Does it Work?
When you turn 71, you put the investments from your RRSP into a RRIF. This helps you avoid paying taxes on the entire value of your RRSP and gives you the funds needed to withdraw a set amount each month or whenever you want.
